COROBOR References

The MESSIR-COMM GTS Message Switching System is now operational at the Norrköping Regional Telecommunications Hub in Sweden.
The installation was completed last month (September 2001) by a team of telecommunications experts from COROBOR.
They connected the MESSIR-COMM switch to the meteorological services of Norway, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Germany (all via RMDCN) and Russia. Several national links were also set-up.
Gunnar Bleckert, Head of IT Purchasing at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, said : "The MESSIR-COMM project has finished AHEAD of schedule, which is quite unusual for an IT project. It has been a pleasure to work with COROBOR".
This new COROBOR success is the result of an open tender issued in December 2000. This is the fourth MESSIR-COMM system installed by COROBOR in member countries of the European Community, after Denmark (1995), Finland (1999) and Greece (2000), and the 11th GTS Message Switch installed in WMO RA VI countries.
Sweden becomes one of the first countries to benefit from the new Windows 2000 version of MESSIR-COMM which was also installed in Singapore in August 2001. This new version of MESSIR-COMM provides users with an even more user-friendly interface and makes maintenance much more flexible thanks to the use of the Windows 2000 environment.
MESSIR-COMM is the only Message Switching System running under Windows 2000 available on the market today which makes it a very attractive solution for meteorological services seeking to upgrade their telecommunications facilities.
